Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her highly commendable performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her movie Piano was awarded an Oscar. She began her career acting as an actress both on Broadway and Off Broadway. Passionate about acting since her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. After suffering from the Mumps, she was deaf on one side the ear. But, it didn't stop her from pursuing her dream to be an actress. The college she attended was drama before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her goals. Through a random encounter, she became stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which was Hunter's first performance. Following her move to Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged the role of a co-star in Swing Shift. Since then she has appeared in many films, television movies and series. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received the Women in Film Lucy Award.
