Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is known for her acclaimed performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes, including an Oscar for the movie Piano. The actress of distinction began her acting career on stage and has performed in numerous Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Being an actor has always been a obsession. In the fifth grade she acted as Helen Keller. She was born deaf in the one ear following a bout of mumps but did not have this limitation deter the determination of her to become an actress. At the age of 16, she studied drama in college before moving to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. Hunter made her Broadway debut following a chance encounter in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. As she relocated into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get film roles. A role in the supporting part was secured in Swing Shift. In the last three decades she's been on several TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also awarded her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
